“If you had been born here, you would know the smell of sea salt and diesel before you knew your ABCs. You would understand that time moves differently when the harmattan blows.”
Discover the strangers whose lives could have been yours — if fate had drawn different lines.

“If you had been born here, you would know the smell of sea salt and diesel before you knew your ABCs. You would understand that time moves differently when the harmattan blows.”
“Somewhere in the world right now, someone is living the life you almost had.”
You were born into a particular country, a particular century, a particular family. You speak a certain language. You hold certain fears. These were not choices — they were the lottery of existence. But what would remain of you if every accident of birth had landed differently?
The Stranger invites you to hold that question each morning. We surface a fictional life — fully imagined, culturally rooted — and ask you to stand inside it for a moment. Not to feel guilty about your luck, nor grateful in a performative way. Simply to see: that your life, as vivid and inevitable as it feels, is one outcome among billions of possible ones.
Philosophers call this counterfactual thinking. We call it a daily practice of radical empathy — and perhaps the gentlest possible confrontation with the strangeness of being alive.
A new encounter every single day, forever. Each stranger is a fully-imagined life rooted in real cultures, geographies, and circumstances.
01See how your values, fears, and dreams might have taken shape under entirely different skies — if fate had drawn different lines.
02Track your daily encounters. Watch the number grow — Day 1 through Day 365 and beyond — a tally of lives briefly inhabited.
03Don't break the chain. Each uninterrupted day of encounter builds a streak — a record of your philosophical practice kept intact.
04Each stranger comes as a beautifully formatted card you can share. Invite someone else to hold the same question for a moment.
05Revisit every stranger you have ever met. A growing gallery of lives — a private record of all the people you briefly became.
06Gentle, customisable notifications so your stranger arrives each morning — a quiet ritual at the start of each day.
07Every stranger, every insight, fully available in both English and Turkish — two languages, one shared sense of wonder.
08Every day a new life appears. Every card holds the same question: what would remain of you, had you started there?

“If you had been born here, you would know the smell of sea salt and diesel before you knew your ABCs. The Atlantic would be less an ocean and more an old argument — something to fear, to fish, to cross.”
Osaka, Japan
“If you had been born here, you would understand that a perfect bowl of ramen is a form of devotion. You would bow without thinking, apologise as a reflex, and carry the weight of a city's unspoken expectations with quiet grace.”
Zagreb, Croatia
“If you had been born here, summer would smell of lavender and stone, and your grandparents' silences would contain entire decades you were never permitted to ask about. History would not be a subject — it would be furniture.”
All strangers are fictional. All circumstances are real possibilities.
Quietly beautiful. Deliberately minimal. Built for the five minutes each morning before the world asks you to be someone specific.
